Tile leveling clips for the US and Canadian trade
US and Canadian buyers usually specify grout lines in inches and order in cases. The clips are built to metric widths, so the useful question is which of the five widths sits closest to the line you already sell.
Matching a metric width to an inch line
The five widths are 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and 3 mm. Converted, they sit near 0.020, 0.039, 1/16, 5/64 and 1/8 inch. The two that carry most of the volume are 1.5 mm and 3 mm, because they land closest to the two lines most distributors already stock.
The practical point is not the conversion, it is that the mould is cut in metric. If you specify 1/8 in and we quote 3 mm, the finished joint is about 0.18 mm narrower than the number on your shelf label. That is inside normal tile tolerance, but it is worth deciding which figure goes on the packaging before the artwork is approved.
| Joint width | Inch equivalent | Available in |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 mm | 0.020 in | Recommended clips |
| 1 mm | 0.039 in | All four profiles |
| 1.5 mm | 1/16 in | All four profiles |
| 2 mm | 5/64 in | All four profiles |
| 2.5 mm | 3/32 in | Hollow-top clips |
| 3 mm | 1/8 in | All four profiles |
Case quantities a distributor can break
One carton holds 30 bags of 100 pieces, so 3000 pieces. The minimum order is one bag rather than one carton, and it applies per SKU. That matters when you want to test several widths before committing: four widths at one bag each is four bags, not four cartons.
Bag fill and bags per carton are both customizable. If your channel sells 50-piece bags instead of 100, that is a packing instruction rather than a new product — and it changes the carton count.
- Neutral bulk bags for repackers and contractor supply
- Your brand on the bag or the retail card, with artwork approved before production
- Barcodes and carton labels to your own specification
- Mixed pallets combining clips, wedges and pliers
Container planning
A 20ft container takes up to 410 cartons and a 40HQ up to 960, both built on the 57 × 37.5 × 33.5 cm carton. Treat 410 as a ceiling rather than a target: a part-loaded container is normal while an assortment is still being tested.
Those figures assume the default carton. Change the bag fill and the carton count moves with it, so quote against the packing you actually intend to order rather than the default.
Documents and lead time
The HS code is 3926909090, which sits under plastics rather than under ceramic tile. No certification is claimed for the clips; where a buyer needs compliance documents, those are confirmed per order rather than assumed.
Samples leave the factory within 3 days. A full container takes about 20 days of production before it is ready to load. The two figures are often quoted as one number, which is how a container ends up planned around a sample schedule.
Trade terms: FOB, CIF or EXW.
